How You’ll Be Assessed
To be deemed competent in SHBBMUP008, you’ll complete two assessment tasks. Both are scored as Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory — there are no grades or numerical marks. If your first attempt is Not Satisfactory, you’re entitled to a second attempt.
Assessment Task 1
An open-book written assessment covering the theory of eyelash extensions — contraindications, eye shapes, the lash growth cycle, types of extensions and curls, adhesive selection, infection control, hygiene regulations and aftercare. You’ll work through this in your own time during the online theory component.
Assessment Task 2
A supervised practical assessment delivered face-to-face on the Gold Coast. You’ll perform a series of lash services on different clients so we can confirm you can adapt to varying eye shapes, natural lash conditions and client preferences. Softer phrasing aside, this is real model work performed under your trainer’s observation.
The practical covers three activity sets:
- Two full-set applications, each consisting of a substantial number of individual eyelash extensions per eye
- Two infill services on existing lash sets
- Two removal services using appropriate product remover and technique
For each treatment you’ll design and record a treatment plan, conduct patch testing, select the correct adhesive, colour, curl, length and width, complete the service to commercially realistic timing, and meet health and hygiene requirements throughout.
