- Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): A basic level of English literacy and numeracy is required. Artisan will conduct an LLN and digital literacy review before enrolment to confirm course suitability. If reasonable adjustments are needed, these will be discussed with you. - Unique Student Identifier (USI): Required for enrolment — free to obtain at usi.gov.au.
- Models for Practical Assessment: Students are required to provide models for some practical assessments. Artisan provides models through its working clinic where possible and encourages students to bring friends or family where appropriate.
- Device with Internet Access: A computer or tablet with reliable internet access is required for online learning components.
- Recording Equipment: A smartphone or tablet capable of recording video is required for video assessment submissions.
- Printer: Access to a printer is required for printing course materials and assessments.
Prerequisites
There are no entry prerequisites for the SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services. This qualification is open to all aspiring beauty professionals regardless of prior experience.
Certification
Students who successfully complete all 18 units will be awarded the SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services by Artisan Training Academy RTO 46085 — a nationally recognised AQF qualification. Graduates may progress to the SHB40121 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or, for those interested in cosmetic tattooing, the SHB50321 Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing.

Is the SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services nationally accredited?
Yes. SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services is a nationally recognised qualification on the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), regulated by ASQA. It is delivered by Artisan Training Academy RTO 46085 and issued in accordance with the SHB Hair and Beauty Training Package. Because SHB30121 is nationally recognised, your qualification is portable across all Australian states and territories and is widely accepted by Queensland employers. Do I need any prior experience or qualifications to enrol?
No prior experience or qualifications are required. SHB30121 is an entry-level qualification designed for people starting their beauty career from scratch. Before enrolment, Artisan will assess your Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and digital literacy to confirm the course is suitable for you. If support or reasonable adjustments are needed, these will be arranged before your studies begin. How long does the course take and how is it delivered?
The Certificate III in Beauty Services is available as full-time (52 weeks) or part-time (65 weeks) study. Both modes use Artisan’s blended delivery model: online self-directed learning for theory content, which you complete at your own pace, combined with face-to-face practical training at Artisan’s Worongary salon every Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 4pm. Full-time students attend two days per week face-to-face with a minimum of 10 hours per week of self-directed online study. Part-time students attend one day per week face-to-face with a minimum of 5 hours per week of self-directed study. Study Plans are available for both modes to support steady course progression.
How will I be assessed throughout the course?
SHB30121 uses competency-based assessment — you must demonstrate both knowledge and practical skill to receive a competent outcome for each unit. Assessment tools include written knowledge questions, research tasks and case studies completed online, video responses demonstrating practical skills in simulated environments, and live practical demonstrations observed by your trainer during face-to-face sessions at the Worongary salon. Multiple client or model observations are required across service types to confirm consistent, safe practice. You must achieve a competent result in all 18 units to be awarded the full qualification.
What does the $7,500 course fee include?
The total course fee of $7,500 covers your Comprehensive Learning Guides for all 18 units, Learning Activities and Assessments, Full-time or Part-time Study Plans, and all equipment and resources provided during face-to-face training sessions at Artisan’s Worongary salon. A non-refundable deposit of $1,500 is required to secure your enrolment, followed by a monthly payment plan of $600 per month for 10 months. TLC Finance is also available — offering flexible repayments over up to 84 months with no deposit required. Finance is provided by TLC as an independent third party and is subject to lender approval.

Fee and Refund Policy
All courses require a non-refundable minimum deposit to secure enrolment. Artisan Training Academy complies with Australian Consumer Law regarding refunds. Extension and Withdrawal Policy
If you encounter difficulties completing your course or attending a scheduled training day, you may request to transfer to another date or apply for an extension. Requests must be made within two weeks of your face-to-face training session or before your assessment due date.
