Can I study online, or do I need to attend in person?

It depends on the course. Theory is delivered online through our learning portal, and the infection-control units (HLTINF005 and SHBBINF002) can be completed 100% online. Practical cosmetic tattoo and beauty skills are hands-on and must be learned in person at our Gold Coast campus in Worongary. Interstate and remote students complete theory from home and attend block-training practical intensives, so you only travel for the hands-on days.

How do I become a cosmetic tattoo artist in Australia?

In Australia, the recognised pathway is to complete the nationally accredited SHB50321 Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing together with the HLTINF005 infection control unit — which most Australian councils require before you can apply for a skin-penetration / Higher Risk Personal Appearance Services licence to work on paying clients. At Artisan Training Academy (RTO 46085) the Diploma combines online theory, hands-on workshops and supervised work on live models, so you graduate job-ready. Beginners can also start with a short cosmetic tattoo course to build foundation skills in brows, lips and eyeliner before progressing to the full Diploma.
