Artisan Training Academy Website has information on all courses offered by Training Academy, including information on fees https://www.artisancosmetictattoo.com/

Pre-Enrolment

As part of our pre-enrolment process, all prospective students are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills review. This tool is designed to assess a student’s capacity to meet the foundation skill demands of the training product without requiring prior industry knowledge.

The results of the LLND review are used to:

  • Determine the suitability of the chosen training product for each student.
  • Identify any additional support needs that may be required during the course.
  • Provide students with guidance on the most appropriate training pathway based on their current skill level and future goals.

Where support needs are identified, Artisan Training Academy will offer reasonable adjustments or recommend support options prior to enrolment. This process ensures that students are informed about their readiness and the expectations of the course before any training commences.

Enrolment

Applicants that would like to enrol into a course delivered by Artisan Training Academy, are to express their interest via email info@artisantrainingacademy.com, once received applicants will be emailed a link to our online Student Enrolment Form.

Notification of Changes to Training or Enrolment

Artisan Training Academy is committed to keeping all students well-informed of any changes that may affect their studies. As part of our compliance with the Outcome Standards for RTOs 2025, students will be notified as soon as practicable of any material changes that impact their enrolment.

These changes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Amendments to training product titles, units of competency, or packaging rules due to updates from training package developers or regulators;
  • Adjustments to delivery mode, training location, scheduling, or assessment arrangements;
  • Replacement or transition of a training product due to supersession or removal from the national register;
  • Changes in third-party delivery arrangements (if applicable);
  • Suspension, cancellation or discontinuation of a course or training program.

Students will be notified by email and/or phone, and updated details will also be reflected in the Learning Management System (LMS) or Student Handbook where relevant. Where the change requires consent or action from the student—such as agreeing to continue under a new training product or schedule—we will provide clear instructions and support to assist with decision-making.

Risk Management for Practical Training and Work-Integrated Learning

At Artisan Training Academy, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students, clients, and staff during practical training and salon-based learning activities. Practical assessments often involve real clients or models and replicate the conditions of real-world salons. As such, we implement structured risk management procedures to ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with legislative requirements and industry standards.

Identifying and Managing Risks

All practical training activities, whether in our student salon or external demonstrations, are subject to risk identification and mitigation protocols. These include:

  • WHS Briefings: Prior to any practical training, students receive a safety induction that covers hygiene, infection control, equipment handling, electrical safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
  • Treatment Protocols: Students must follow documented treatment protocols that include pre-treatment consultations, patch testing (if required), contraindications, and emergency response procedures.
  • Supervision: All practical activities involving models or clients are directly supervised by qualified trainers and assessors. Students are not permitted to perform treatments without oversight.
  • Incident Management: Any incidents, injuries, or near-misses are to be reported immediately. First aid kits are accessible at all times, and all incidents are logged and reviewed to inform continuous improvement.
  • Model Consent: All models are required to complete a model consent form, outlining the nature of the treatment, risks involved, and acknowledgement that the service is part of a student’s assessment activity.

Responsibilities During Practical Training

  • Students are responsible for ensuring they adhere to salon safety protocols, maintain hygiene standards, and follow trainer instructions at all times.
  • Trainers and Assessors are responsible for:
    • Conducting risk assessments of practical tasks.

Mode of Study

Artisan Training Academy has adopted a flexible, client-centred approach to delivery in recognition of differences in students’ learning styles, special needs and/or lifestyle, work and/or family commitments.

Training delivery can take many forms, for example students may work individually at home and participate in the classroom-based skill development workshops/tutorials.

This means all students study through multi-modal delivery. Multi-modal delivery includes on-line presentations, readings and completing learning activities, participating in workshops and/or webinars, completing written and verbal assessments and completing practical assessments.

Delivery Modes

Artisan Training Academy uses an on-line learning management system to host learning and teaching materials. Most students access Learning Guides, presentations, videos in, course readings, workshops, through this system.

Blended Online/ Classroom/Salon Delivery

Classroom Based Students are required to attend a series of skill development workshops at a time and place nominated by Artisan Training Academy.

Competency Based Training

Competency means the consistent application of knowledge and skill to the standard of performance required in the workplace. It embodies the ability to transfer and apply skills and knowledge to new situations and environments. Competency Based Training develops the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to achieve the early childhood education and care sector determined competency standard – as outlined with the nationally recognised Training Package.

Competency is measured via evidence that can be collected by various means. To ensure the evidence captured leads to the successful accomplishment of competency, the evidence must be sufficient, valid, reliable, and current.

Assessment may include (but is not limited to):

  • Written, oral, and scenario-based questions
  • Practical Observation
  • Written assignments
  • Case Studies
  • Portfolio of work
  • Simulated environments

To achieve competence within a unit, all unit assessment tasks are required to receive a (sufficient) outcome.

The concept of competency focuses on what is expected of an employee in the workplace rather than on the learning process and embodies the ability to transfer and apply aspects of work performance and not only narrow task skills. When all assessments are marked for as unit, students will receive a “competent” or “not yet competent” result.

All assessment tasks are required to be completed by the end of the practical training. If you require support or an extension, please let us know at your earliest convenience, so we are better able to support you.

Competency Based Assessment

This process comprises knowledge, skill and the application of that knowledge and skill to the standards of performance required. Assessment is the process of collecting evidence and making judgments on the nature and extent of progress towards the performance requirements set out in the competency, and then making a judgment as to whether competency has been achieved.

The Trainer and Assessor provides the student with an assessment plan for each unit or cluster of competencies. The assessment plan will outline the activities required to meet the performance requirements for the assessment of the unit or cluster of units.

Assessment activities could include:

  • Assignments
  • Questionnaires
  • Practical field work
  • Observations
  • Checklists
  • Simulated activities
  • Oral responses

The Assessments for each unit provide a process for the student to receive feedback from their Trainer and Assessor for assignment work and for overall assessment outcomes.

Plagiarism and Collusion definitions

Artisan Training Academy requires students to submit work that is their own, and considers that plagiarism, and collusion constitute academic misconduct for which penalties may be applied.

  • Plagiarism – Is to take someone’s words or ideas or other materials and present them as your own.
  • Collusion – Is an understanding or agreement between two or more people to intentionally cooperate to gain an unfair advantage in assessment and may include. Unauthorized and unacknowledged joint authorship in an assessment task. Unauthorized and unacknowledged copying or use of material prepared by another person for use in assessment.

Assessment questions

If you require any assistance with assessment instructions, or questions about submitting assessment, students should contact the Training Academy via email or phone.

Email: info@artisantrainingacademy.com
Phone: 0422 624 966

Submissions

Students are required to submit all elements of an assessment.

Students should keep a copy of their work prior to submitting for assessment.

Resubmissions

Students will receive two attempts to satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks – Their original assessment submission/attempt, and two further resubmission/reattempts.

Marking and Assessment Outcomes

Final assessment items are marked ‘C’ (Competent) or ‘NYC’ (Not Yet Competent).

To demonstrate competence in each unit students must undertake all activities in the unit and have them deemed competent by the Trainer & Assessor.

If a student dose not undertake all activities, they will be deemed Not Yet Competent, and the Trainer & Assessor may ask the student to resubmit the required questions or arrange a time for the student to perform the tasks again.

Once all assessment components of a unit have been submitted

Once the student has successfully completed all assessment activities within the unit of competency, they will be deemed C = Competent for the unit.

Should the student not satisfactorily complete all required assessment tasks/activities after three attempts/submissions they will be deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC) for that unit. Students will have the opportunity to retrain in that unit of competency.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Artisan Training Academy recognises the need to ensure that students who have prior learning gained through formal training, work experience and other life experiences can be appropriately recognised.

Recognition of prior learning shall be available to all potential course attendees and shall be fair to all persons involved.

What RPL Involves:

Continuous Improvement and Student Feedback

Artisan Training Academy is committed to a culture of continuous improvement in all aspects of its training and assessment services. We believe that student feedback is one of the most valuable tools for enhancing the quality of our programs, support systems, and overall learning environment.

To achieve this, we have implemented a systematic feedback process that includes:

  • Course Feedback Surveys – Issued at the midpoint and completion of each training program to gather student input on the quality of training, assessment, resources, delivery methods, and trainer support.
  • Practical Session Reflections – Students are encouraged to reflect on their hands-on training experiences and suggest improvements for session flow, support, and clarity of instruction.
  • Informal Feedback – We welcome suggestions and concerns raised directly to trainers, student support staff, or via email throughout the training journey.

The feedback we collect is regularly reviewed by our compliance and quality team, along with trainers and management, to identify themes, concerns, and opportunities for improvement. This review informs changes to:

  • Training content, delivery strategies, and scheduling;
  • Assessment task design and instructions;
  • Student support materials and communications; and
  • Trainer professional development priorities.

Where feedback identifies an urgent issue affecting student satisfaction, a corrective action is implemented immediately. All feedback data is also used in our annual review process to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and overall RTO operations.

Our approach ensures that students are not only heard, but that their voices shape and improve the learning experience at Artisan Training Academy.
