Nano Brows Course Gold Coast — Hairstroke Brow Training

Overview
The Nano Brows Course at Artisan Training Academy is a face-to-face, one-on-one cosmetic tattoo training course delivered on the Gold Coast. Nano stroke brows are a machine-applied hairstroke technique that produces ultra-fine, natural-looking brow strokes using a single needle — most often described in the industry as a microblading alternative because it delivers a similar hairstroke result through a fundamentally different application method.
This course is offered as a non-accredited training course with two enrolment pathways: a 3-day pathway designed for those new to cosmetic tattooing (with HLTINF005 included), and a 2-day pathway for experienced PMU practitioners adding nano strokes to their existing service menu. Both pathways teach the same nano stroke design principles, three Artisan Signature Brow Patterns, and machine-applied hairstroke technique. The non-accredited pathway is the right fit for practitioners who want focused, technique-specific training. If you want the full nationally recognised qualification instead, see our Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing (SHB50321).
Key Outcome
By the end of the Nano Brows Course you’ll be able to confidently consult, design, map and apply machine-based nano stroke hairstroke brows — including the three Artisan Signature Brow Patterns (Unidirectional, Lateral-descending and Multilateral) — on live models, with the skin and infection-control knowledge required to operate safely in clinical practice.

Curriculum
The Nano Brows Course is structured around the practical workflow of delivering a nano stroke brow service — from client arrival to healed result. The same curriculum is taught across both pathways, with the 3-day version adding HLTINF005 infection-control training and an extra live model session.
-
Module 1: Nano Strokes — Technique Foundations
- What nano strokes are: a single-needle, machine-applied PMU technique that implants pigment through micro-perforations
- How nano differs from microblading (machine vs blade, micro-perforations vs incisions)
- Why nano is described as a microblading alternative and how to position it honestly with clients
- Healing pattern expectations and yearly maintenance touch-up technique
-
Module 2: Brow Mapping and Design
- Reading the face: bone structure, eye placement, natural hair growth direction
- Mapping for symmetry using callipers, pencils and brow measuring stickers
- Designing the brow shape to suit the client’s facial features and aesthetic preferences
- Pre-treatment client consultation and design approval workflow
-
Module 3: Colour Theory and Pigment Selection
- Pigment chemistry basics for nano hairstroke work
- Skin tone and undertone assessment for accurate pigment matching
- Selecting pigments for desired healed outcome
- Mixing, layering and saturation principles for natural hairstroke results
-
Module 4: Needle Selection for Nano Hairstrokes
- 0.18mm (ultra-fine nano) — for the finest, most delicate hairstrokes and clients with minimal natural brow hair
- 0.20mm (fine nano) — for balanced hairstroke detail with slightly more efficient pigment flow
- 0.25mm (standard nano) — the workhorse needle for most nano hairstroke applications
- When to use 3-point cartridges within a hybrid brow design (kit familiarisation)
- How needle choice affects stroke appearance, pigment saturation and healed result
-
Module 5: The Three Artisan Signature Brow Patterns
- Unidirectional Flow — template strokes that flow in the direction of natural brow hair growth, with secondary, filler and head strokes layered to build a cohesive single-direction pattern
- Lateral-descending Flow — top and bottom template strokes built around a transitional spine, suitable for clients whose natural brow shape descends laterally
- Multilateral Flow — a more dimensional pattern that uses template, secondary, filler, top and head strokes to create flow with directional pull and arch character
- Selecting the right pattern for the client’s face, hair growth and aesthetic goals
-
Module 6: Stroke Creation — Saturated and Pixelated
- Saturated strokes — building density and depth in a single hairstroke
- Pixelated strokes — layering pixels for an ultra-natural, airy hairstroke finish
- Stroke length, angle and spacing for natural-looking flow
- How to adapt stroke technique to different skin types
-
Module 7: Client Consultation, Contraindications and Records
- Conducting a thorough consultation and managing client expectations
- Identifying contraindications that rule out nano stroke work
- Patch testing, consent forms and clinical record keeping
- Professional before-and-after photography for portfolio and marketing
-
Module 8: Infection Control and Hygiene
- Skin penetration infection control principles
- Workstation setup, sterilisation and cross-contamination prevention
- 3-day pathway: completion of HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments as part of enrolment

-
Module 9: Aftercare, Healing and Maintenance
- Aftercare instructions for the first 14 days

Course FAQs
Is the Nano Brows Course nationally accredited?
The Nano Brows Course is a non-accredited training course focused on the specific technique of machine-applied nano stroke hairstroke brows. Students receive an Artisan Training Academy Certificate of Completion. The 3-day pathway additionally includes HLTINF005, which is nationally recognised. If you want a full nationally recognised qualification in cosmetic tattooing, see our Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing (SHB50321).
Do I need prior experience to enrol?
It depends on which pathway you choose. The 3-day pathway has no prior experience requirements and includes HLTINF005 — it’s suited to students new to cosmetic tattooing as well as career-changers from microblading or other beauty disciplines. The 2-day pathway is for experienced PMU practitioners who already hold HLTINF005 (or SHBINF002) and want to add nano stroke brows to their menu.
How long is the course and what does the schedule look like?
The 3-day pathway runs one day of theory and design followed by two full days of supervised practical work on 4 live models. The 2-day pathway runs half a day of theory followed by a day and a half of practical work on 3 live models. Both pathways are face-to-face, one-on-one with Carlye in our Gold Coast clinic. Dates can be booked consecutively or split out if you’d prefer practice time between training days.
How is the course delivered and how will I know I’m ready to practise?
The course is delivered one-on-one in a working clinic environment, which means every model session includes direct trainer feedback on consultation, mapping, stroke execution and finishing. There is no formal written or practical examination — instead, your trainer signs off the work as competent across the modules and live model sessions. You’ll leave the course with a complete portfolio of before-and-after work and ongoing access to post-course mentoring.
What’s included in the course fee?
The 3-day pathway at $3,490 includes HLTINF005, the full Artisan student kit (Mast wireless PMU machine, 1-point and 3-point cartridges, 3 premium pigments, brow design tools, practice mats and consumables), one-on-one training across all modules, 4 live model sessions, post-course mentoring and 20% off Artisan’s online shop. The 2-day pathway at $2,490 includes one-on-one training across all modules, 3 live model sessions, post-course mentoring and 20% off Artisan’s online shop — it does not include HLTINF005 or the student kit.
